Position Overview

As an Inventory Control Manager , you will lead inventory management and will be accountable for accurate and complete inventory counts for the Bethlehem IV distribution center. Additionally, you will oversee recruiting and training of team members. In this role, you will ensure team members are provided with ongoing development and coaching to improve performance and enable them to improve their advancement potential within the organization. You will direct ongoing communication and collaboration with customers of the warehouse and ensure results meet or exceed customer expectations for product quality and service reliability, speed, and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Create high customer service and productivity expectations among team members, monitor individual and team performance and take action to correct performance gaps and/or address improvement opportunities

  • Assess daily and weekly output, identify trends in productivity and oversee the allocation of people and equipment to address day-to-day and week-to-week variations in demand and capacity across assigned distribution center

  • Lead the implementation of safe work practices and conditions; accountable for maintaining a safe environment for team members and visitors to the distribution center

  • Review and evaluate performance of inventory control functions, address performance gaps and take corrective action, as needed, to ensure work teams and individuals are delivering on operating and service goals

  • Assess business conditions, evaluate needs and take action to address near-term opportunities to improve service, reduce costs and enhance operational results of the assigned distribution center and work teams

  • Oversee scheduling of work teams and initiate short and long term planning with foremen and superintendents to ensure business needs are met under constantly changing business conditions

  • Prepare operating budgets for assigned area, review and finalize operating budgets with the distribution manager and develop and implement work processes to ensure achievement of budgetary and service goals

  • Lead the development of improved work processes and procedures to enhance productivity and effectiveness of assigned work teams, equipment and space; accountable for achieving incremental results from the implementation of these improvements

  • Oversee cycle counts of product inventories and ensure all inventory is accurately accounted for and reported in accordance with company policies and procedures

  • Identify gaps in effectiveness of work processes and worker performance which contribute to errors in inventory management and product loss (shrink) and take corrective action, as needed

  • Conduct performance appraisals and coach direct reports to enhance individual and team performance; assist in the development of individual and team performance improvement goals to support achievement of company objective

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Five to eight years of prgressively responsible inventory control experience in either Retail Operations, Distribution, Transportation, Logistics and / or Supply Chain Management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Financial and operational analytics; Inventory Control software systems knowledge (WICS a plus)

  • LMS/WMS software systems knowledge or similar; Microsoft Office Applications proficency

  • OSHA safety regulatory standards and HACCP knowledge preferred.

  • Able to establish and build relationships, develop talent and teams, set and communicate direction

  • Strong analytical skills; an acute eye for finite details; planning, facilitation, and problem solving skills
