Position Overview

As a Fresh National Merchandising Analyst, you will maximize profitability of assigned items by collaborating with brokers & vendors, the procurement & sales teams and retail customers on strategic merchandising programs, methods and practices. Create, manage, communicate, monitor and improve promotional programs with vendors and interact with retail customers.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and execute national and regional promotional merchandising programs with brokers and vendors

  • Negotiate gross profit buying opportunities with vendor while maximizing bill out inventory profit (truckload deals)

  • Setup and maintain item and vendor data integrity (speed to shelf, link codes, family groups, category maintenance, cross-coding, conversion & price changes)

  • Assist vendors and buyers with dead and excess inventory resolution

  • Interface with outside C&S departments as well as retail customers for resolutions and vendor relations

  • Study and anticipation of commodity changes to maximize revenues

  • Verify accuracy of pricing and reconcile any discrepancies

  • Maintain alternate sourcing program profits

  • Retail and wholesale P&L accountability for merchandising lines in assigned categories for 5 divisions

  • Manage merchandising accruals and vendor recoups

  • Trade spend analysis and management

  • Financial management of non-reflects

  • Regular interface with Demand Planning Team on ad bookings

  • Special projects and assignments as needed

RETAIL COMPONENTS

  • Create promotional programs for independent retailers that drive profitable sales

  • Act as the independent customers’ merchandising arm to insure consumer trends in your categories are being met

  • Interact with retail customers on special ad and promotional needs and requests (SPAC)

  • Manage seasonal pre-sells

  • Serve as divisional liaison for national merchandising team

  • Support and help all divisions merchandising special needs and requests

  • Be subject matter expert (SME) in assigned categories; includes deep understanding of production and supply side and retail/end user side

  • Deep involvement in bi-annual Food shows for 3 divisions; includes booth solicitation, product sales and margin in assigned categories

  • Marketing and financial involvement with Vendor Variety Guides, Annual Golf Tournament, Recipe Book and all other corporate marketing initiatives

  • Retail Systems interface for host support process for new items and promotional programs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience

  • Two years' related industry experience wholesale or retail (preferably in a Perishable/ Fresh Department)

  • Basic computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Professional verbal and written communication skills

  • Negotiation, organization, prioritization, and problem solving skills
