As a Bakery Specialist , you will engage decision makers in Independent Retailers assisting with sales and merchandising of bakery products, as well as work to increase the volume of products and programs that we offer.
Our Bakery department engages across a wide spectrum of regional/corporate departments, such as Procurement, Transportation, Merchandising and Customer Service as we strive to deliver world class products and services. We are looking for a Perishable Specialist with retail deli and bakery experience to manage both the expectations of our customers and of C&S, regionally & corporately.
Maximize sales with existing customers, using the C&S programs combined with individual knowledge and experience in both retail and wholesale to increase sales and gross profit for the retailer.
Assist Fresh department managers, owners, and/or supervisors with product selection, training on new products and proper merchandising, retails to establish proper gross profits for their departments, writing ads using our ad program, and maintaining the product list with acceptable retails.
Individual store visits to assist retailers in achieving and maintaining a business relationship with C&S, including: problem solving, negotiating, and development of programs while securing integrity and trust between our company and the retailer.
Sell special buy programs such as shippers, seasonal and holiday items.
Inform both the retailer and your team of competitive activities both locally and nationally.
Sales of new programs and services. Understand and explain C&S programs and services to the retailer’s buyers / representatives.
Work with all necessary personnel for new stores, remodels, and start-ups to ensure a smooth transition from an existing Bakery department to a new department.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Buying background; ability to negotiate and create successful relationships with vendors and customers
Product knowledge, transportation, growers/shippers
Sound statistical and functional acumen, interpretation and analytical ability
Professional verbal and written communication skills
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
