Position Overview

As a Salesperson, you will be responsible for sales, ordering of merchandise, and building customer relationships. You will also be responsible for stocking the merchandise sold and should be an early self-starter with the ability to organize and prioritize to complete their daily functions. Working with minimal supervision, you will develop customer relationships to provide exceptional service. This job is physically demanding.


  • Develop relationships of trust and respect with customers e.g. store management in assigned accounts

  • Call on assigned stores to make orders for assigned territory, which could include any product category available for service

  • Self-generate sales on a daily basis (i.e. new accounts, additional sales, sale products)

  • Secure and maintain orders from existing customers; write orders for each of your assigned accounts

  • Stock shelves - all orders are to be stocked neatly, focusing on straight rows, rotation, dusting and overall shelf cleanliness. You are also responsible for making sure all items have correct unit tags.

  • Responsible for minor cut ins & set up of end caps, boulevards, and displays

  • Observe displays and merchandise for competitive products on store shelves for opportunities

  • Pack out assigned deliveries; responsible for proper pricing and tag maintenance of items you pack out

  • Submit orders for stores, transmitting orders for each store separately

  • Scan out credits at each visit

  • Responsible for a variety of store survey’s and freshness reports. Freshness reports must be complete, accurate and neat, and follow all requirements for submission

  • Considerable paperwork is required; must be accurate in order writing, mileage reports, and other information as requested and must be turned in a timely manner

  • No set daily schedule. Salesperson is responsible for completing responsibilities required with a start time at a reasonable hour (i.e. within 30 minutes after the arrival of your first delivery unless other arraignments have been made in advance), depending on the customer needs, and ending when Salesperson has completed the responsibilities required for that day

  • Notify supervisor in a timely manner of any issues that may arise in one of your stores (e.g. order not delivered, lack of cooperation from store personnel regarding display, etc).

  • Dress appropriately (No jeans, sneakers etc. check handbook for proper attire while you are working in stores) unless otherwise authorized by your Davidson Co. Supervisor.

  • Customer Service - Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs; Solicits customer feedback to improve service; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments.

  • Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly

  • All other duties as assigned


  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information

  • Good Communication Skills (verbal and written); able to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Mathematical Skills - Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Self-motivated, self-starter, sense of urgency, personable and well organized

  • Must maintain a clear driving record

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from assigned accounts

  • Must have a smart phone.
