Position Overview

As an Intern, Fresh Procurement at C&S you will gain real world experience through interesting, challenging and meaningful work while contributing to the bottom line. You will have the opportunity to network with other interns and C&S employees, learn about different areas of the business and develop professionally.

Primary responsibilities would be coordinating the Category Management Project in Fresh. The job consists of writing the standard operating procedure (SOP) for communication from the C&S Fresh team to the C&S Marketing and Sales organizations with regard to merchandising programs, new and discontinued items, market information, category and industry information. This communication will be the catalyst for driving in store plan-o-gram changes and sales execution. The position will report to senior leadership who will meet daily with the intern to provide guidance and support.

Responsibilities

  • Help to develop a formal written process that will enhance communication from the C&S Fresh organization to our Sales and Marketing departments

  • Compile notes from meetings and conference calls to better understand existing communication strategies

  • Help to develop a process from the ground up that will support the sales efforts for 700 Independent grocery stores

  • Provide up to date category and industry information to enable our Independent retailers to better serve their communities

  • Develop an understanding of working within a team structure

  • Gain exposure and knowledge on the Merchandising, Marketing and Sales departments

  • Provide feedback for process improvement

  • Complete various projects and daily responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • High attention to detail

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Eagerness to learn and accept challenges
