As a Transportation Representative , you will schedule, assign and dispatch routes to drivers, ensuring work is fairly distributed to the drivers, while customer service requirements are met.
Schedule, assign and dispatch routes to drivers. Field calls from drivers documenting issues, call-outs, changes, etc. Escalate as necessary
Ensure work is evenly and fairly distributed to the driver workforce
Relay information, instruction and/or messages to drivers
Promote a safe work environment
Talk safety with drivers
Remove unsafe obstacles, or escalate hazards through proper channels
Ensure customer service requirements are met. Adjust the driver schedule as needed to keep service level commitments
Address issues, questions or problems with deliveries/pickups. Escalate issues when necessary
Maintain all necessary trip records
Notify appropriate party of changes or disruptions to daily business
Ensure drivers operate within all DOT guidelines and regulations
Schedule backhaul loads to maximize efficiency
Ensure payroll records are prepared and accurate
Maintain attendance roster
Shadow supervisor preparing and/or issuing corrective action
On occasion, act as supervisor on duty
High school diploma or equivalent
Three or more years' experience in a transportation or warehousing environment
Basic record-keeping techniques
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy
DOT and OSHA regulations
Telephone techniques and etiquette
Perform dispatching and clerical support duties for assigned department
Professional writtenand verbal communication skills; Able to speak clearly and distinctly
Understand and follow oral and written directions
Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
Operate standard office equipment
Continuously – Stand, sit and/or walk; communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing
Frequently – Bending, squatting, crawling, climbing and reaching.
Occasionally – Lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 25 pounds; work around moving vehicles and/or MHE
