Position Overview

As a Sales Manager, you will grow company sales with proper efficiencies and communication, reporting directly to the Vice President of Sales & Marketing.


  • Manage Account Managers in the following areas…

  • Attend Headquarter calls

  • Develop account specific sales programs with our vendor community

  • Schedule monthly strategy meetings

  • Sales projections and plans to achieve them

  • Follow up on new item presentations, Administrative help, merchandising grids and recap sheets

  • Assist with business reviews

  • Work with VP of Sales on plans to pursue new business as well as continuing to grow existing accounts

  • Manage our two annual Food Shows; attend various trade shows (Fancy Food, Kosherfest, etc.) as required

  • Assist in billing issues at account level when needed

  • Communicate between all Davidson employees or customers as needed

  • Maintain the following items with our Lead DM’s: truck and sales rep changes; worksheet that includes vacation, personnel/sick days, & warning forms as well as proper timeliness to HR Department of all company weekly expense forms for Operations Personnel

  • Assist in setting new routes when needed

  • Ride stores with Lead District Managers to find ways to increase sales

  • Schedule and participate in sales meetings with Lead District Managers and District Managers

  • Oversee execution, accuracy and timeliness of all personnel involved in the Sales Department

  • Communicate all sales programs between all necessary company departments

  • Additional "special projects" as deemed by immediate supervision

  • Directly supervise employees in the Marketing Department. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Complete employee reviews as needed

  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions; work well in group problem solving situations; use reason even when dealing with emotional topics

  • Manage difficult or emotional customer situations; respond promptly to customer needs; solicit customer feedback to improve service; respond to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments

  • Interpersonal Skills - Focus on solving conflict, not blaming; maintain confidentiality; listen to others without interrupting; keep emotions under control; remain open to others' ideas; willing to try new things

  • Develop strategies to achieve organizational goals; understand organization's strengths & weaknesses; analyzes market and competition; identify external threats and opportunities; adapt strategy to changing conditions

  • Adapt to changes in the work environment; manage competing demands; change approach or method to best fit the situation; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events


  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Knowledge of database software; internet software; Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint

  • Marketing background

  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume

  • Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
