The Senior Director of National Sales Development creates and executes sales strategy to deliver upon our Natural, Organic, and Specialty organizational sales goals. This individual ensuresbusiness growth through driving and managing business development activities in line with Key Performance Indicators and organizational strategy. This position will be the conduit between Sales, Procurement and Supply Chain to ensure accounts are acquired and successfully transition to the Account Management team.
Create and execute sales growth strategy both nationally and regionally in partnership with National and local sales teams.
Work with internal cross functional partners to direct and guide the development of business plans, pro-forma analyses, reports and presentation materials to assist in the execution of business development plans.
Identify, qualify and track targeted opportunities to achieve growth with new targeted customers in alignment with C&S/Davidson strategic growth plan.
Keep abreast of industry, economic/business trends and advancements that may affect potential new business opportunities, and apply knowledge in a timely and effective manner.
Design and articulate customer solutions to prospective new customers.
Grow and maintain a pipeline of viable prospective new customers and associated opportunities through competitive intel, relationship building, and participation in food shows, customer meetings, and trade events.
Senior level customer relationship development, cultivation & management.
Has accountability for the performance and results of a large, strategically important function in an extremely large market and/or diverse disciplines or departments with a large geography or division and/or a large, strategically important discipline within a major region and/or a medium-sized global corporate discipline or department. Develops, adapts and executes strategies to achieve key business objectives in area of responsibility. Decisions are guided by organization and functional strategies and objectives.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
At least 10 years of demonstrated business development/sales experience preferably in a Supply Chain, Retail or consumer packaged goods environment.
Fluent communication skills, business acumen and assertive decision-making ability coupled with superior speaking and presentation skills.
Proven ability to access the highest levels of decision making within a Customer environment, developing the appropriate Customer relationship to successfully drive opportunities through the sales process.
Ability to travel 60% of time or more
