Position Overview

The Sales Associate position is a role designed to provide the right candidate with the exposure and insight to the grocery wholesale sales process. This position will directly report to the Sr. Manager of Procurement for the West Coast, while also providing high level customer specific support for C&S West Coast Procurement, Customer Service, Account Management, Sales, Merchandising and Financial Analyst Teams.

This position will require detailed data analysis and engagement between departments and customers driving greater value for our retailers through faster communication on critical procurement, merchandising and sales topics, as well as exposure to business financial analytics and departmental training and development opportunities. The primary focus will be on supporting the procurement and sales teams to help better serve the customer. This position will require a demonstrated high level technical systems knowledge (specifically use of web based dashboards, internet navigation and usage, Excel, Outlook and company proprietary database management systems). The ideal candidate will interface between regional executives, store directors, department managers, and various company departmental support personnel requiring a demonstrated proficiency in interpersonal skills with experience working in team environments. Some travel will be required to support the region in off-site meetings or the completion of various customer task/projects. Remote work schedule options available as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the procurement/sales teams in responding to customer/departmental information request

  • Working with cross functional departments to gain working understanding of each function

  • Conduct customer ad calls for meat, dairy, deli/bakery and maintain spread sheet.

  • Responsible for ad bookings (working with demand planning team) to move out left over ad cases, work with buyers to move up trucks or increase quantities.

  • Direct point of communication for customer’s meat director, in store meat specialist, dairy and bakery/deli specialists.

  • Handle all product distributions sent from customer on a daily basis.

  • Contact for all fresh poultry buying to make sure inventory is handled correctly.

  • Direct point of contact for vendors to make sure pricing is accurate and inventory is on hand.

  • Review all prompt invoices and make sure the vendor is paid correctly.

  • Handle all vendor related issues for certain commodities on scheduling trucks.

  • Assist store stores with shorts/ misc. issues from the warehouse.

  • Review credit requests from the stores for out of code or weight shortages on a daily basis.

  • Handle all calls from warehouse on acceptance of short dated product or location of late trucks.

  • Responsible for daily OOS report for fresh meat and package meat.

  • Responsible to send out weekend coverage update with all contact info

Qualifications:

  • BS in Business Management or related field preferred or equivalent experience

  • High level of professionalism

  • Superior level communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong to expert level understanding of Microsoft Outlook and Internet Explorer

  • Strong to expert level understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Data Base Management

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, ability to manage multiple projects, ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision. High degree of organization and time management skills.

  • Previous demonstration support of senior level executives and preferably multiple executives on a regional level

  • Ability to manage confidential meetings/information at a high level is mandatory.

  • Ability to utilize an effective customer service approach to internal/external company interactions is mandatory

  • Ability to professionally represent company in customer business review meetings

  • Demonstration of sound personal and professional judgments
