As a Manage r, Warehouse EHS , you will maintain the safety under the direction of the Regional EHS Manager, and will be responsible for successfully integrating EHS into the functional operation of the facility by implementing systems, processes, and training to prevent injuries to our associates and minimize the environmental impact of our operations. Provide local EHS leadership by partnering with operational business functions to enable efficient knowledge transfer of key skills to managers, supervisors, and employees. An EHS Manager has responsibility for a Larger Warehouse with multiple shifts, multiple warehouses within the same geographical area, or direct report(s).
EHS Manager has overall responsibilityto manage, administer, communicate, and coordinate the Warehouse Safety Program at a warehouse location/ campus. Training, Coaching, and guiding warehouse team members on Safety requirements such as Fall Protection, Lockout-tagout, Trailer Pull procedures, Cardinal Rules, Warehouse Safety rules, MHE Safety, New Employee Training, and MHE Certification. Maintain the site’s Injury & Illness Prevention Plan (I2P2) binder with all effective Policies and procedures. Champion Safety Committees and First Responders. EHS Manager will also be responsible to ensure the EHS Supervisor coordinates the program. Develop and implement local initiatives that provide effective solutions to current and future business needs in order to sustain a world-class safety culture.
Partnering with the EHS Supervisor, the EHS Manager is ultimately responsible to lead the Safety Training portion of new employee orientation. Monitor MHE Certification process & participate in the Trainee Review Process ensuring new employees will be safe during and after the training process. Maintain OSHA, Safety Training and Certification records for warehouse employees. Provide initial and annual, OSHA required, training in the areas of blood borne pathogens, bypassed equipment, hazard communication, PSM/RMP and fire extinguisher training to all associates. Provide initial and annual, OSHA required, training to those salaried and hourly associates needing training in lockout/tagout, Hot Work Permit, Respirator, Emergency response, and Confined Space procedures. Ensure all corporate, regulatory and safety program requirements are implemented & trained.
Establish plans for the facility to achieve established Corporate Safety Goals (ORI, Claims, Investigations, Compliance, and others as required). Assist in the review of workers compensation cases and help the individual departments to ensure that the OSHA 300 Log is accurate and the OSHA 300A Summary report is posted as required.
Monitor Shift Startup meetings to ensure Safety Messages are understood, interacting with new employees to ensure they understand the safety training. Lead safety walks with the supervisors, leadership team members, and the GM on a weekly basis. Utilize the supervisor scorecard to ensure all supervisors are leading a safety culture. Be a presence on the warehouse floor coaching supervisors and associates on safety practices.
Keep all necessary OSHA, State, and Federal registrations and certifications current as required. Complete safety and compliance audits as required or directed by Regional EHS. Serve as Site OSHA representative coordinating with Regional EHS and the Compliance team. Environmental permitting includes and not limited to RCRA/ HazCom, PSM, Stormwater, and SPCC.
Complete other tasks as required or directed by the Regional EHS. The EHS Manager should develop the EHS Supervisor’s capability to meet all essential functions above. Working Safely is a condition for Employment with C&S.
Conduct performance appraisals and coach direct reports to enhance individual and team performance, improve team member engagement and achieve company objectives.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Distribution, Logistics or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Eight (8) years work experience in retail operations, distribution, transportation, logistics, supply chain, security, safety management or related field.
Two or more years of safety compliance and accident investigation.
Demonstrated leadership skills including team facilitation, training and motivation.
Demonstrated analytical, organizational, problem solving and investigative skills
Microsoft Office applications proficiency.
Compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Ability to communicate complex and detail information verbally via telephone, in person and in writing.
Ability to operate effectively in a high volume-fast paced, deadline driven work environment
Ability to handle multiple tasks, organize and coordinate activities effectively in complex situations.
High standard of integrity and reliability.
