Position Overview

We recognize how important it is to give customers great service, from the moment they enter the store until the final transaction takes place at checkout. If you enjoy interacting with and assisting others, and feel comfortable handling monetary exchanges, you could be a Nell's cashier!

As a Cashier , you will provide friendly and helpful customer service by greeting customers, answering qustions, and checking out customers by scanning products, handling money, and occasionally bagging orders.

Responsibilities

  • Check customers out in an efficient and polite manner; engage customers in conversation using effective communication skills

  • Perform all steps in the checkout process, including scanning and bagging items at a rate that meets store requirements

  • Handle money in a business like manner, accept and process different forms of payment and make accurate change to ensure no overages or shortages of money. Responsible for all moneys in his/her drawer; including but not limited to: cash, coupons, food stamps, checks, lottery tickets and stamps

  • Assist other cashiers with bagging when there are no customers at own register; perform proper bagging techniques to ensure products arrive at their destination in the condition they left the store

  • Maintain a clean, neat, and organized work space

  • Uphold state regulations during the sale of alcohol, with no exceptions or violations

Qualifications

  • No prior experience required. Training will be provided

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

  • Customer-service orientation

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures
