Position Overview

As the Safety & Security Manager, you will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of safety, security and audit programs for assigned distribution center. This position oversees training and certification courses and ensures team members, security supervisors and guards are provided with ongoing skills development and coaching sessions to help them improve the security and safety of their work environment. The Safety & Security Manager develops operates within budget constraints the operating plan the safety and security department and is accountable for achieving overall results that are consistent with individual and company performance goals.

Job Description

  • Manage, administer, communicate, and coordinate the Warehouse Safety & Security Program at a warehouse location/ campus.

  • Interact with new employees to ensure they understand the safety training.

  • Maintain a presence on the warehouse floor coaching supervisors and Team Members on safety practices. Monitor Shift Startup meetings to ensure Safety Messages are understood.

  • Develop and implement local initiatives that provide effective solutions to current and future business needs in order to sustain a world-class safety culture. Maintain a safe and secure environment for team members and visitors at the assigned distribution center in accordance with company policies and health and safety regulations.

  • Keep all necessary OSHA, State, and Federal registrations and certifications current as required. Support Food Safety efforts as requested.

  • Complete security audits on business units as required or requested by corporate security.

  • Create high service and productivity expectations among team members, monitor individual and team performance and takes action to correct performance gaps and address improvement opportunities.

  • Utilize the supervisor scorecard to ensure all supervisors are leading a safety culture. Assess daily and weekly work habits, identify trends in vehicle and workers' compensation accidents and direct the allocation of people and best safety practices to address identified issues at assigned distribution center.

  • Review and evaluate performance of the various functions up to and including inventory. Address performance gaps and take corrective action as needed to ensure the warehouse and transportation teams are delivering on safety and security goals.

  • Assess business conditions, evaluate business needs and take action to address opportunities to improve service, reduce costs and enhance safety and security results of assigned distribution center.

  • Responsible for conducting security investigations related to theft or other criminal violations against the company. Maintain a good working knowledge of the physical security systems to including closed-caption television and alarm and fire protection systems and consistently use these tools to detect, investigate and resolve problems associated with acts of dishonesty, safety or exposure to loss.

  • Oversee scheduling of work teams and initiate short and long term planning with supervisors to ensure the assigned distribution center meets the needs of the business under different and changing business conditions.

  • Prepare, review and finalize operating budget with upper management; develop and implement work processes that ensure achievement of budgetary and service goals.

  • Ensure inventory is accurately accounted for and reported in accordance with company policies and procedures. Implement procedures as defined by corporate policy & procedure to audit shipping and receiving as well as other operational areas where theft may occur.

  • 5% Conduct performance appraisals and coach direct reports to enhance individual and team performance, improve team member engagement and achieve company objectives.

  • Warehouse : Grocery Warehouse (50F to 90F)


  • Specialized Knowledge : Basic Law and Security Certification. Interviewing Certification preferred.

Frequently handling, feeling, fingering, feeling, crawling, carrying, pushing and lifting up to 100 Lbs. Occasionally pulling up to 150 Lbs. Occasionally climbing up to 50 ft. (Must have fall protection training and using proper fall protection equipment. Occasionally sitting and repetitive movement using both hands and feet. Continuously reaching (level: Waist/overhead, etc.). Continuously seeing, hearing and smelling.

Years Of Experience

  • 5+ : Warehousing experience; Management experience, basic law and security certifications


Bachelor's Degree - Environmental/Environmental Health Engineering, High School Diploma - General Studies
