Position Overview

The Sr District Manager, Retail Stores is responsible for directing, educating and supporting the store managers and team members within their assigned district to achieve results by delivering against sales, service, quality and operational standards.The Sr Manager works collaboratively with store management and senior leadership to implement and attain the organization's mission, vision, goals and foster the C&S values and culture with consistency within our retail stores. In this capacity and through timely performance feedback, the Sr Manager ensures all tools and assets are utilized effectively to optimize inventory management, product presentation, productivity and customer satisfaction.

Job Description


  • Develop and execute business strategies and profit plans that are in-line with budget goals for assigned district.

  • Achieve revenue and sales growth targets, improve profitability and control expenses of stores in assigned district.

  • Maintain and utilize daily, weekly, quarterly and annual financial reporting tools to ensure store teams are accountable to objectives and to identify changes in market conditions.

  • Ensure proper store coverage, scheduling according to the needs of business while maintaining target labor cost and productivity goals.

  • Guide and assist with sound management of human resources at each store in the assigned district, including staffing, training needs and employee conflicts resolution.

  • Promote and practice safe work habits, identifying and resolving potential safety hazards, and operational inconsistencies.

  • Proactively plan store operations and mitigate risks, as well as resolve customer service opportunities to ensure service standards are met with urgency.

  • Consistently maintain the company's product quality standards and address performance issues that affect service, safety or profits.

  • Travel to stores and execute effective store visits to evaluate operations, cleanliness, efficiencies, and communicates successes and areas of opportunity on a timely basis. Complete regular follow-ups to ensure assignments issued are completed.

  • Manage and supervise store management teams including but not limited to daily directions of management team, coaching, counseling, and issuing management evaluations.

  • Act as liaison between senior management, support departments and store management teams to ensure timely feedback, information sharing and responses are provided to meet operational needs.

  • Understand, enforce and coach store teams on standards in the areas of cleanliness, merchandising, quality, in-stocks and customer service.

  • Lead and execute the opening of new retail stores as it pertains to operations.

  • Complete and execute all company programs, initiatives, and special projects as assigned.

  • Specialized Knowledge : Effective leadership skills to motivate, teach and encourage employees; Financial knowledge & analytical capabilities to understand operating statements & reporting, budgets.

  • Special Skills : Excellent verbal & written communication skills; Proficient computer & Microsoft Office suite skills; Advanced problem solving skills; Strong analytical, creative and critical thinking skills; Results driven & adaptable.

  • Physical abilities: : Must be able to lift up to 30lbs and frequently bend and twist from the waist.

  • Other: : Ability to travel frequently for the day or longer as needed. Requires availability for occasional evening and weekend work, and emergency store assistance.

Years Of Experience

  • 5-7 : A minimum of five years of retail operations and management experience with increasing responsibilities including experience as a District Director/Manager or in multi-store retail, grocery operations. Experience in union environment preferred.


Bachelor's Degree - Business Administration/Management
